Life Story

Zvi (Howard) Menachem Glatt was born in 1958 in Brooklyn, NY, to Frieda and Sol (Shmuel Chaim). He was a madrich in Bnei Akiva at Young Israel of Ocean Parkway. At the age of 16, he made aliya and began to study in the Yeshivat Merkaz Harav in Jerusalem. He was a close student of Rabbi Druckman. On May 2, 1980, on Friday evening, a group of worshipers left the Machpela Cave in Hevron on their way to Beit Hadassah when they were fired upon by terrorists from three sides. Five people were killed, including Zvi Menachem, and another six were wounded. Zvi was buried in the Military Cemetery on Har Herzl. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
