Aharon David Shainberg was born in 1907 in Memphis, TN to Sam and Elizabeth. He studied in the public schools in his hometown and was accepted to the local City College, studying English literature.
While a student at the Wharton School of Business, he decided to leave and study Torah, first with a local rabbi and then at the Yeshivat Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan in New York. In 1927, without his parents' knowledge, he left New York and made aliya. He reached Hebron and was accepted at Yeshivat Knesset Yisrael, where he studied diligently.
On August 24, 1929 the Arabs rioted and murdered numerous Jews, including Aharon David and Rabbi Samrik at whose house he sought refuge. He was buried in Hebron.
