Eliezer Shirazi was born on July 2, 1970, in Jerusalem to Tziporah and Shmuel. Eli studied in the Yad Hamorah Elementary School in Ramat Eshkol and then at Masada in Katamon and at the ORT Haneviim High School.
He was drafted into the IDF in July 1989 and volunteered to serve in the Golani Brigade. On January 14, 1990, he was killed while on active duty and was buried in the Military Cemetery on Har Herzl. He left behind his parents, six brothers, and a sister.
His family immortalized his memory by planting trees in a forest plot by the Sataf in the Jerusalem hills, one tree for each year of his life, and a stone monument bearing his name.
