Life Story

Yitzhak Weinstock was born on August 8, 1974 to Dov and Sharon (Shoshana). He was raised in Alon Shvut in Gush Etzion and attended the Or Etzion Yeshiva High School and the pre-army mechina in Eli. He enjoyed hiking all over Israel, completed courses in snappling, snorkeling, and riding. Loved sports, especially basketball. Yitzchak belonged to the youth movement " Bnei Akiva" and took part in many activities including rescuing people in distress in the desert, and agriculture in the Gush Etzion area. On December 1, 1993 Yitzhak was on his way to say goodbye to his friends and teachers in Eli before he was to be drafted the next day, when the car in which he was hitchhiking developed mechanical difficulties near Ramallah. Yitzhak got out to help and at that moment a passing car filled with terrorists began firing. Shalva Ozana, another hitchhiker, was killed on the spot. Yitzhak was taken to Hadassah Hospital in critical condition and died 18 hours later. He was buried in the cemetery in Gush Etzion. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
