Life Story

Yaron Ungar was born on August 19, 1970 in New York to Meir and Yehudit while his father was completing his Ph.D. at Columbia University. The family made aliya while Yaron was an infant and he grew up in Petach Tikva, studying at the religious school 'Netzach Yisrael.' In 1985 Yaron and his family moved to Shaarei Tikva in the Shomron and Yaron attended Yeshivat Nachalim. After completing high school he studied at the Hesder Yeshivat Hagolan in Chispin and served in the Golani Brigade. On September 13, 1993 (the day the Oslo Agreement was signed) Yaron married Efrat Dasberg. The couple moved to Kiryat Arba where their two children (Dvir and Yishai) were born. Yaron taught in the local yeshiva high school. On June 9, 1996 Yaron and his wife Efrat Dasberg Ungar were returning from a friend's wedding when they were murdered in a Hamas drive-by shooting near Beth Shemesh. They were buried side by side in the Kfar Etzion cemetery.
