Tehilla Nathanson was a 3-year-old Israeli-American preschooler tragically killed in a terrorist attack on August 19, 2003. A Hamas suicide bomber, disguised as a religious Orthodox Jew, detonated an explosive packed with ball bearings on a crowded No. 2 Egged bus in central Jerusalem, killing 20 people and seriously wounding over 130 others. Many passengers were returning from praying at the Western Wall when the attack occurred.
Tehilla’s mother, Chana, who immigrated from Monsey, New York, to Zichron Yaakov nine years earlier, was wounded in the blast. Miraculously, Tehilla’s baby sister escaped unharmed. The family continues to remember Tehilla’s brief life amid the ongoing tragedy of that day.
