Frank Robert Gilford was born on November 11, 1954 in the US to Sam and Gerry. He grew up and studied in Dallas TX, and was active in 'Young Judea.' After completing high school Frank came to Israel on a one-year program of Young Judea and this aroused in him an interest in Zionism. When he completed his BA in 1978, Frank made aliya.
For two years, Frank and his wife, Sue Adele, lived in Jerusalem. They then decided to join Moshav Shorashim, a moshav shitufi of American olim in the Gallil.
In 1981 he was drafted into the IDF and on Jan 1, 1982 , during a march, he was hit by car and killed. He was buried in the Military Cemetery in Har Herzl.
