Life Story

Ayala Gilboa was born on November 30, 1930 in Merchavia to Chaya (Henkin) and Shmuel (who made aliya from America as a volunteer in the Jewish Brigade in World War I). When the War of Independence began she served in the Yiftach battalion of the Palmach in Yagur, Ein Hashofet, Rosh Pina and Zrifin. She served as a 'mother' to 6-8 fighters On June 3, 1948, one her way back to Zrifin with two of her friends, all three were killed in a heavy air bombardment in Rishon LeZion. She was buried in that city until, on June 22, 1950, her body was moved to the Military Cemetery in Nachalat Yitzchak. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
