Eliahu Wedel was born on February 6, 1951 in Tel Aviv to Gideon and Ayala. At the age of 11 he moved to Canada with his parents. There he completed his schooling and passed his Bagrut examinations. He began to study urban planning and architecture at McGill University in Montreal.
In 1972 Eli made aliya and was drafted into the IDF in January 1973. He served in Nahal in Kibbutz Revadim and then transferred to the Paratroopers. While still in training, on October 13, 1973, he was injured in an accident on the way to a mission and was killed. He was buried in Kiryat Shaul.
