David Solomonov was born on March 6, 1982, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Evelyn and Mordechai Solomonov. The family made aliyah in 1994 when David was 12 years old, settling in Kfar Saba. He continued his education at the Bar-Lev School and Katznelson High School.
In November 2000, David was drafted into the IDF and served with distinction in the Golani Brigade. On Yom Kippur, October 6, 2003, after completing his three years of service, David volunteered to replace a fellow soldier who wished to pray. During an ambush, David identified a squad of snipers on the Lebanese side and moved to a nearby bush for better visibility. Unfortunately, terrorists spotted him and opened fire, but his actions prevented them from targeting his comrades’ position.
David was laid to rest in the Kfar Saba military cemetery. He is survived by his parents, brother, and sister.
