David Solomonov was born on March 6, 1982 in Pittsburgh, PA to Evelyn and Mordechai. The family made aliya in 1994 when David was 12 and made their home in Kfar Saba. He continued his studies in the Bar-Lev School and the Katznelson High School. In November 2000 David was drafted into the IDF and served in the Golani Brigade. At the end of his three years of service, on Yom Kippur, October 6, 2003, David volunteered to replace a soldier who wanted to pray. In the ambush, David discovered a squad of snipers stationed on the Lebanese side and skipped to a nearby bush for better visibility. However, the terrorists spotted him and opened fire on him. In so doing David prevented shooting at the position where his other comrades were sitting. David was buried in the Kfar Saba military cemeteryand was survived by his parents, brother and sister.
