Avner Zamir was born on June 16, 1944 in Haifa to Moshe and Bella. He attended elementary and high school in the Zevulun District. After completing his studies he began to work in agriculture and was accepted as a member of Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan.
He was drafted into the IDF in July 1962 and served his compulsory service in the Nahal. On June 2, 1967 he was killed in a border clash with the Syrians. He was buried in Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan.
