Life Story

Stanley Yoel (Saadya) Phillips was born on April 28, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to Albert and Esther. He studied at New Utrecht High School and Brooklyn College (from which he received his BA). He was active in Hashomer Hatzair and was sent to Montreal to organize the branch there. He served on the National Board and as Treasurer. Saadya served in the US Army and, when he was discharged in 1958, he made aliya and settled on Kibbutz Gal-On. He was drafted into the IDF in June 1965 and after completing his compulsory service he was frequently called for reserve duty. On November 22, 1970 he died as a result of an accident while serving in the Reserves.
