Sara Duker was a passionate young woman devoted to learning, justice, and Jewish life. Born and raised in the United States, she had recently graduated from Barnard College and was preparing to pursue graduate studies in environmental science. Deeply connected to her Jewish identity, Sara spent time in Jerusalem, where she continued her studies and built a life with her partner, Matthew Eisenfeld, a rabbinical student. On February 25, 1996, while riding a city bus in Jerusalem, Sara and Matthew were killed in a terrorist bombing. She was just 22 years old.
