Chaim Duek was born on December 13, 1944 in Netanya to Mazal and Shlomo. After completing his elementary and high school studies in Netanya, Chaim attended the Teachers Seminary in the same city, graduating in 1965. Chaim was drafted into the IDF in August 1965. After completing his basic training in the Infantry, he completed Officers Training Course and was assigned as Educational Officer to an tank unit.
In 1968 he married Ruth and they set up house in Haifa. A year later their daughter Oshra was born. Chaim volunteered to serve in the standing army and from 1968 to 1969 he was an Educational Officer in the minorities unit. From 1970 to 1972 he served in the Army Educational School.
In November 1973 he was called up into the active reserves and served as Educational Officer in the south. On January 18, 1974 he joined other staff officers for a tour of the unit near Santa Katarina. During the tour Chaim froze to death. He was buried in the cemetery in Netanya.
