Rita Susan Levine was a 39-year-old attorney from Philadelphia who had come to Israel as a Sar-El volunteer and was considering making aliyah. On July 6, 1989, Rita was seriously injured in a terrorist attack when the bus she was riding between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem was hijacked, causing it to plunge into a ravine and catch fire. She succumbed to her injuries on July 18.
