Ram Yedidya Caller was born on May 3,1952 on Kibbutz Kfar Giladi to Rivka and Shimon, After he finished elementary school, the family moved to Yahud, where Ram completed ORT high school. Ram was greatly influenced by his father who fought in the US Army during World War II, one of the liberators of the concentration camps. After the war, Shimon was active in the Haganah, helping to smuggle immigrants and arms into Israel and later, received the Israel Defense Award for his part in developing weapons for Israel.
Ram was drafted into the IDF in 1972, volunteered for the Air Force and completed his pilots course. He served as a pilot for the next sixteen years, during which time he married Miri and had two sons (Shai and Gideon) and a daughter (Noam).
On August 15, 1988 Ram was killed when two Bus trainers collided and crashed in the Dead Sea area. He was buried in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
