On August 19, 2003, Goldie Taubenfeld, 43, of New Square, New York, and her three-month-old son, Shmuel, were among 23 victims killed in a suicide bombing on a No. 2 Egged bus in Jerusalem’s Shmuel Hanavi neighborhood. The Hamas suicide bomber, disguised as a religious Jew, detonated the bomb shortly after boarding the bus.
Goldie had come to Israel with her husband, their 16-year-old daughter Batsheva, and infant son Shmuel to attend a family wedding. While returning from a visit to the Western Wall, Goldie and Shmuel were tragically killed, and Batsheva was wounded.
A mother of 13 children, Goldie was known as a deeply pious woman, devoted to good deeds and beloved by her community. She was laid to rest alongside her son Shmuel in Jerusalem. She is survived by her husband and 12 other children
