Sergeant Eliyahu Moshe (Eli Mo) Zimbalist, age 20, was killed in battle in Gaza on December 14, 2023. He was born in 2003 and immigrated to Israel from the United States with his family in 2005, settling in Beit Shemesh. Eli Mo studied at Ahavat Yisrael elementary school and continued at its yeshiva high school before joining the Hesder program at Yeshivat Shaalvim. In March 2023, he was drafted into the IDF, serving as a combat soldier. Bilingual in Hebrew and English, he became a natural bridge between the Israeli and American students in yeshiva. Known for his strong religious commitment, Eli Mo often spoke about how true dedication to Torah and mitzvot comes from within, regardless of one's environment. His words and character inspired many around him. In his memory, a book of essays was published, along with a sticker carrying his message of faith and strength. Eli Mo is deeply mourned by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched with his courage, humility, and unwavering spirit.
