David Golovensitz was born on November 11, 1994, to Shimon and Esther, who made aliya from the United States in 1963 and 1979 respectively. Born and raised in Jerusalem, David later moved with his family to Efrat in Gush Etzion. He attended high school at Yeshivat Bnei Zvi in Bet-El and then studied at Yeshivat Shavei Hevron before joining the IDF, where he rose to the rank of 2nd lieutenant in the Golani Brigade. A warm and caring person, when coming home for Shabbat he would spend Friday purchasing food and delivering it to needy families.
David was shot and killed by accidental firearm discharge during a training exercise at the Gilber checkpoint in Hevron. He is buried in the Military Cemetery at Har Herzl.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
