Ben Mizrachi, 22, a lone soldier, was murdered by Hamas terrorists while attending the Supernova music festival in southern Israel on October 7, 2023. Originally from Vancouver, he immigrated to Israel after high school and immediately joined the IDF. He served as a medic and was reportedly killed while using his skills to help the injured during the attack.
Mizrachi finished his military service in April 2022. For the following year, he worked in the kibbutz fields and traveled through South America for several months. He was planning to enter the real estate field in Israel and had recently moved into an apartment with his two sisters, who also live in Israel. He was a devoted son to his parents, Dikla and Etsik, and a loving older brother to his sisters and younger brother.
Before his death, Mizrachi was working for his uncle’s construction company. He was part of Kvutzat Yavne kibbutz, where a family who had lived in Vancouver welcomed him as their own, promising to be his family in Israel while he served in the paratroopers brigade, just as his father had.
Friends recall Mizrachi as a natural leader who organized social and volunteer activities. He was known for his infectious smile, love of life, and ability to connect with anyone, regardless of age or background. He was described as the son every parent could dream of, and a cherished friend who was always the first to start a dance.
Mizrachi’s friends and community mourned his loss deeply. At a rally held on October 10, community leaders spoke about the pain of losing such a bright and beloved young man. His parents traveled to Israel during the Thanksgiving weekend to assist with the search for him and later received confirmation of his death. His funeral was held in Israel on October 11.
Ben Mizrachi is survived by his parents Dikla and Etsik, his two younger sisters, and his brother.
