Life Story

### **Adrian Ann Neta (1957-2023)** Born in California to Alan and Alfred Lampert, Adrian grew up in Southern California, where her father worked as an engineer for the U.S. Navy. She was passionate about music from a young age, playing the violin and later studying flute performance at UCLA and UC Santa Cruz. After completing her studies, she played in the California Philharmonic Orchestra in San Luis Obispo. In 1978, Adrian met Israel, a young man from Be’eri traveling in the U.S. After touring the country together, Israel returned to his kibbutz, and Adrian followed shortly after for what was meant to be a "short visit"—one that lasted from 1980 until her passing. She embraced Zionism, Hebrew, and Israeli culture wholeheartedly, working in various kibbutz sectors, from the dairy farm to children's education, where she taught music and co-led a class. Adrian and Israel built a family together, raising five children—Nahar (b. 1982), Carmel, Carmi, Dror (b. 1986), and Ayana (b. 1993). She was a devoted and loving mother who ensured the family always gathered for dinner and instilled values of peace and humanity in her children. In the early 1990s, while raising her family, Adrian pursued a nursing degree in Be’er Sheva. She worked as a nurse in Kibbutz Be’eri’s clinic and later in Kibbutz Alumim’s clinic, where she was known for treating every patient with deep respect and compassion. In 1997, she completed her midwifery training and began working as a midwife at Soroka Medical Center. She was dedicated to her work, often volunteering for holiday and weekend shifts. Her unique approach to midwifery combined techniques she developed over the years, such as pressing acupressure points and sitting beside laboring mothers, offering them comfort and care. She delivered thousands of babies, welcoming countless new lives into the world. In 2015, she joined Israel’s medical relief delegation to Nepal following the devastating earthquake, an experience she described as deeply transformative. After retiring in 2022 from decades of midwifery, Adrian devoted herself to her grandchildren and volunteered at Rimon Farm near Kibbutz Lahav, where she helped rehabilitate at-risk youth through organic agriculture, a cause close to her heart. On the morning of October 7, 2023, Adrian was taken from her home and murdered by terrorists.
