Asher Palmer, age 25 and his one-year-old infant son, Yonatan, were killed while driving in the Kiryat Arba area. Asher was the son of Mollie and Moshe Palmer
who immigrated to Israel about 30 years ago, wanting to bring up their children in a Jewish atmosphere. He was the husband of Puah, who was expecting their next child in several months at the time of the attack.
On September 23, 2011, Asher and Yonatan were driving on Route 60 near Kiryat Arba. He was headed towards Jerusalem to visit his pregnant wife. Driving in the opposite direction was former Palestinian Authority security officer Waal al-Arjeh and his accomplice Ali Saadeh. As they crossed paths, al-Arjeh hurled a large rock that pierced the windshield of Asher’s car, hitting him in the head and causing the car to crash on the side of the road. Asher and his son died upon impact.
Both Asher and Yonatan were buried in the local cemetery in Hevron.
