Amnon Pomerantz was born to Tzipora and Moshe and lived in Israel with his wife Cynthia, originally from the United States. On September 20, 1990, Rosh HaShanah, Amnon was on his way to take the place of a friend in the reserves when he accidentally entered the area of El Burej in Gaza, where he was brutally lynched. He was 46 years old. Amnon and Cynthia had one son, Gidon, who was just three months old at the time of his father’s death. Amnon is remembered for his sense of responsibility, devotion to his family, and quiet courage.
