Aharon 'Roni' Ben Yisrael-Ellis, 31, the first Israeli-born child of the Black Hebrew community in Dimona, was killed in a terrorist attack at a bat mitzvah celebration in Hadera on January 17, 2002. He was performing in the band providing entertainment, filling in for the lead singer who was sick, when a gunman burst in and started shooting. Roni was shot while saving the life of another performer. He is survived by parents Tehillah and Prince Elkannann, originally from Chicago, five siblings, partner Leslie Knot, and their 15-month-old son, Jordan. He was laid to rest in Dimona.
