Ezra Schwartz was born on October 1, 1997, to Ruth and Ari Schwartz in Sharon, Massachusetts. He was known for his warm heart, infectious energy, and ability to connect with everyone around him. Ezra had a deep passion for sports, Torah, Israel, and his family. A graduate of Maimonides School in Brookline, he spent his gap year studying at Ashreinu Yeshiva in Beit Shemesh, where he embraced his love for the land and people of Israel. On November 19, 2015, while on his way with fellow students to deliver snacks to IDF soldiers, Ezra was murdered in a terrorist attack at the Alon Shvut junction. He was eighteen years old. Ezra is survived by his parents, four siblings, and grandparents. His legacy continues through the Ezra Schwartz Memorial Baseball Field in Ra’anana, the annual Ezra Schwartz Baseball Tournament, scholarships at Camp Yavneh where he was a beloved counselor, and a memorial fund at Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon that helps ensure access to Jewish education for all children.
