Life Story

Atara Livney was a 15 year old student at the Kibbutz Gesher Haziv High School. She was described by friends as an amazing girl, funny, and full of the joy of life. On the morning of March 12, 2002, she asked her mother Lynne for a ride to visit a friend in nearby Kibbutz Metzuba. On the way terrorists ambushed vehicles traveling between Shlomi and Metzuba, and both Lynne and Atara were killed by the gunfire. They were buried together at the Hanita cemetery and are survived by father/husband, Tuvia and three other children. **The information on this page is part of the “Yizkor” commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense/the ‘La’ad’ website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
