Life Story

Staff Sgt Yonatan Dean Haim, 25, a lone soldier of the Combat Engineering Corps' 603rd Battalion, was killed in south Gaza on December 8. Haim, a resident Ramat Gan, was originally from Hilton, New York, and was born Jonathan Dean Jr. He converted to Judaism after studying about the Holocaust in college, and in 2020 decided to move to Israel. Known to many as a charming, sociable, and well-liked person, he was also a committed blood donor. He had studied at Tel Aviv University, receiving a master's degree in disaster management.
