Life Story

Benjamin Meisner was born on April 30, 1964, in San Salvador, El Salvador, to Eric and Ruth Meisner. In 1967, his family made aliyah and settled in Kiryat Tivon, where Benny grew up. He studied at the Rimonim Elementary School and completed high school in the Electronics Department at ORT Greenberg. From a young age, Benny had a passion for inventing, building, and exploring the world of electronics. He was also an accomplished athlete, playing basketball for the Tivon team and the Israeli national team. In January 1983, Benny was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for an elite unit. Although medical issues required him to transfer, he insisted on remaining in a combat unit and joined Battalion 202. After completing his service, he worked as a tour guide for the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and made his home at the Eilat Field School. Benny is remembered for his determination, creativity, and love of nature and adventure. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
