Life Story

Abigail Elizabeth Litle was 14 years old when she was tragically killed in the Haifa bus bombing on March 5, 2003. Born shortly after her family moved to Israel, her father Philip accepted a position at the Technion Institute in Haifa, Abigail grew up deeply rooted in a unique blend of faith and community. Although the Litle family are Baptists, they are part of a Jewish community in Haifa and observe Shabbat and the Jewish festivals, embracing both heritage and belief. At school, Abigail participated in a coexistence program designed to bring together Israeli Arab and Jewish teenagers, reflecting her desire for peace and understanding amid a complex social environment. She was known among family and friends as a kind, quiet, and determined young girl, marked by a deep faith in Yeshua (Jesus) that gave her strength and hope even in difficult times. Abigail’s personal calendar revealed a heart yearning to make a meaningful impact, with notes and drawings expressing her spiritual journey and desire to be used by God. Her faith was a source of comfort to her family, especially in the weeks following her death, when her parents, Philip and Heidi, shared openly about the pain of losing her and the hope they found in their belief in eternal life. Her funeral was attended by over 1,400 mourners, including members of the Messianic community, local officials, and friends, who celebrated Abigail’s life and her victory over death through faith. Her story continues to inspire many, testifying to the power of hope and love even in the face of tragedy. Abigail is survived by her parents and four siblings, and her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. ** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
