Mark Shindel grew up in Kfar Yona and was slated to begin his studies in civil engineering at Ben Gurion University in Beersheba. He had left his parents' home in Chicago to begin the new school year. He loved playing and watching soccer, especially his beloved team, Maccabi Haifa.
When the rockets began, he and friends were at the Supernova Music Festival. They fled for their car and tried to leave but were unable and tried to hide in the bushes on the side of the road. He was buried on October 13 in Netanya.
