Yonadav Raz Levenstein was killed by Hamas terrorists on November 3, 2023, while fighting in Northern Gaza. He was 23 years old. Yonadav was the son of Michael, of blessed memory, and Leora Levenstein, Canadian immigrants to Israel. He was the youngest of six children, three girls and three boys, and affectionately known as the giant baby of the family. He was married to Hadar.
Yonadav was extremely intelligent and had a deep love of learning. He read widely and eagerly absorbed knowledge across many fields, including Biblical, Jewish, and world history, geography, politics, economics, and philosophy. He shared his knowledge modestly, speaking to each person at their level and never making anyone feel less knowledgeable than he was.
Yonadav also loved music and was a talented musician, skilled at guitar, piano, drums, and other exotic instruments.
Before his army service, Yonadav worked as an excavator at the City of David archaeological site, uncovering pieces of Jewish history near the Temple Mount. It was there that he met Hadar, the love of his life. Together, they hiked the Israel National Trail and dreamed of their future. They were married on September 7, 2023. Just two months later, Yonadav was killed in battle.
Yonadav was big and strong but had a warm, sensitive heart. His presence was deeply felt, spreading love among family and friends. He is painfully missed by all who knew him.
