Yoav Belman was born on September 9, 1948 in Maayan Baruch to Shimshon and Shoshana, who had previously made aliya from Chicago. He attended elementary school in Kfar Vitkin and high school in Emek Hefer and planned to study at the Technion in Haifa.
He was drafted in August 1966 and played a large role in the Six Day War. On August 21, 1968, he was killed by the enemy while on a military operation.
He was buried in the Kfar Vitkin Cemetery.
