Yehuda Shoham was born on January 3, 2001 and lived with his parents, Benjamin and Batsheva (whose parents made aliyah in 1969 from Detroit), on the Yishuv Gilo, north of Ramallah. On June 5, 2001 at night, while the Shohams were driving home from a shiva visit, their car was attacked by a barrage of stones, one of which hit Yehuda in the head.
Although he was immediately evacuated to the hospital, five-month-old Yehuda died of his brain injury on June 11, 2001. He was buried in Shilo, where his parents live today.
In Yehuda's memory, his parents decided to collect donations for dormitories at the yeshiva in Shilo. His parents also established the Yehuda Fund in January 2002 in their son's memory.
