Yehoshua Wohlgelernter was born in 1913, son of Yisroel Elazer Wohlgelernter and Chava Raizel Shaindel Wohlgelernter in Toronto, Canada. Moved to New York and completed his studies at the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Yeshivah. Was also involved with "Hashomer Haza'ir". Made Aliya in 1934 and lived in kibbutz Ein Hashofet. Later, moved to Jerusalem and studied at the Hebrew University. Married Yehudit Wohlgelernter and they had a son, Uzi Itamar. The family moved to Haifa because of Yehoshua's involvement with the "Haganah". During the day he worked at the South African Bank and at night as a sentry (Nutar). During the War of Independence, the Haganah sent him to guard the building that included the bank. was wounded by a car bomb. Fell in the line of duty on 19th February, 1948.
