Shmuel Akiva Weiss was born in 1983 in Elon Moreh in the Shomron to Rabbi Arieh and Tzipporah. Rabbi Arieh made aliya from Chicago after high school and married Tzippora in 1971.
Shmuel moved to Kiryat Arba with his family as an infant. He studied in Kiryat Arba, Yeshivat Merkaz Harav and Machon Meir in Jerusalem and also in Yeshivat Ayelet Hashachar in Eilat. When he was drafted, he chose to serve for his full three years in the Golani Brigade, rather than in the Hesder Program.
On April 8, 2002 Meir and Matanya Robinson were killed in Jenin during fighting as part of Operation 'Defensive Wall' (Chomat Magen). Meir was buried in the military cemetery on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem.
