Life Story

Seymour was a veteran plane navigator of the USAAF over Europe in World War 2. and a Mahal air crew member of 1948. During the early 1950's Israel was desperate to acquire all sorts of military aircraft. A Mosquito plane acquired in Canada was lost with its two-man crew, pilot Raymond Kurtz and navigator Seymour Lerner, in May 1951 over the icy ocean en route to Reykjavik, while being ferried to Israel. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
