Life Story

Ron Werner was born on November 8, 1966, in Philadelphia to Margalit and Michael Werner. The family returned to Israel in 1967 and settled in Haifa, where Ron attended the Reali Haivri school. During a two-year stay in the United States, he continued his studies in New Jersey before completing high school back in Haifa. In January 1985, Ron was drafted into the IDF and was initially accepted into the prestigious Pilot's Course. Due to medical reasons, he transferred to the Artillery Corps, where he became an officer and served in several roles in northern Israel. On October 19, 1988, Ron was killed in Lebanon and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He is remembered for his dedication, leadership, and quiet strength. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
