Oren Yaakov Hadary was born on July 23, 1952 in Nahariya (as a 'ben meshek' of Kibbutz Gesher Haziv) to Amnon and Margalit. As a small child, he lived for several years in the United States and Canada while his parents were on Shlichut.
Oren was inducted into the IDF in February 1971. Although he found difficulties in the military framework which demanded obedience without questioning orders, he was considered a good soldier and was well liked by his mates. During the Yom Kippur War he took part in the fierce battles in Sinai. On October 24, 1973, Oren was fatally wounded as he was endeavoring to rescue wounded buddies from the western side of the Suez Canal. Buried at Kibbutz Gesher HaZiv, he was survived by his parents, brothers and sisters.
