Noam Yehuda Israel was born on May 18, 1963 in the United States to Shoshana and Rabbi David. In 1969 the Noam family including Yehuda's 2 brothers and 3 sisters, made aliya and settled in Safed.
At the end of 1981, Noam enlisted in the IDF and served in the Combat Engineering Corps. On June 6, 1982, when the Peace for the Galilee Operation broke out, Noam’s unit entered Lebanon together with an armored company and a Golani unit. The forces moved along the coastline towards Beirut, and his armored personnel carrier was at the head of the arrow that roared northward, and Noam was killed in a battle in Lebanon on June 10, 1982, the fifth day of the fighting, Noam was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Safed, which overlooks the landscapes of his childhood, which he loved. Noam left his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
