Staff Sergeant Negev Dagan was a 20-year-old combat soldier from Moshav Dekel in southern Israel. Serving in the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, he was killed in action on May 15, 2026, by Hezbollah mortar fire near the Litani River in southern Lebanon. His mother, Chava, is the daughter of U.S. immigrants in the 1980s. Chava started Ancient Roots Israel and Ancient Roots Mothering. Negev was one of five brothers. All were homeschooled.
Negev's maternal grandfather, Micah Harrari of King David Harps, wrote: "Like King David, he was a warrior in his heart who, since childhood, always said he wanted to protect his family. In the end he did this for his bigger family: all of Klal Yisroel around the world."
