Moshe Shmuel Noll, age 21, was a Chabad soldier from Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef serving in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion of the Kfir Brigade. He was killed in action during a Hamas ambush in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, on July 7, 2025.
Noll was one of five soldiers killed when three roadside bombs detonated in succession during a nighttime ground operation, followed by heavy gunfire that injured 14 additional soldiers. The attack occurred just 1.5 kilometers from the Israeli border. Noll’s funeral took place at Mount Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem, following a flag procession through the streets of Beit Shemesh led by his father, Rabbi David Noll.
Known in his community as a “sweet bochur” and devoted Lubavitcher, Moshe was remembered by Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg as “a role model of dedication and heroism, a true warrior who fell while on his mission for the people of Israel.” Rabbi Aharon Schmidt, a family friend, shared that his parents, David, originally from South Africa, and Miriam, from the U.S., were proud of his service. “Moshe was so excited to serve,” he said. “His father would proudly tell people his son was fighting in Gaza.”
