Matthew Eisenfeld was a dedicated student, teacher, and aspiring rabbi whose love for Torah and community touched everyone around him. Raised in Connecticut and a graduate of Yale, he was a second-year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary and was spending the year in Jerusalem for advanced study. His time in Israel deepened his commitment to Jewish learning and strengthened his relationship with Sara Duker, whom he planned to marry. On February 25, 1996, Matthew and Sara were killed in a terrorist bombing while riding a bus in Jerusalem.
