Leah Stern was born in 1928 in Israel and spent her early years in Bnei Brak. After marrying, she moved with her husband to Canada and later settled in Passaic, New Jersey, where they raised their family and built a life together. Following her husband’s passing in 1994, Leah returned to Bnei Brak to be close to her daughter. On July 30, 1997, while visiting Jerusalem to shop at the Mahane Yehuda market, she was killed in a terrorist bombing that took the lives of sixteen people. She was 69 years old.
