Joseph Kabaker was born on March 7, 1926 in Vancouver, Canada to Yisrael and Chaya. Until the age of 8 he studied in the Hebrew school where his father was principal. In 1934 the family made aliya and settled in Tel Aviv. Joseph studied at the Tel Nordau elementary school and then the Herzliya Gymnasia.
After high school, he spent a year of service in Kibbutz Dorot, where he also joined the Haganah. While studying at the University he was active in the Haganah's intelligence service. Following the UN decision in 1947 and the subsequent fighting, Joseph spent almost all his time on military affairs, returning to Jerusalem in one of the last convoys before the siege of the city.
On July 18, 1948 he fell in fighting for the village Beit Tol, on the road from Jerusalem to the plain. His remains were transferred to the Har Herzl Cemetery on Feb 28, 1950.
