Jonathan Asher Schulewitz was born on December 19, 1967 in Jerusalem, His father, Yehuda, came to Israel as a student from the US, and his mother, Malka, came in her youth from England. Jonathan began his studies in the elementary school Ma'alot and continued in the Evelina de Rothschild elementary school. His graduated from Himmelfarb High School.
He was interested in meteorology, sports and touring the country. He was also a leading figure in the 'Reshit' project in coordination with the IDF and a member of the Scouts movement.
In October 1985 Jonathan was drafted into the IDF and served in the Golani Brigade. On December 2, 1985 he fell while on active duty and was buried in the Mt. Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem.
