Life Story

Imri Tel-Oren was born on July 4, 1963, in Jerusalem to Chanoch and Sharon, both flutists in the Jerusalem Orchestra. He grew up in Motza, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, and attended the Harei Yehuda regional school near Kiryat Anavim. A talented clarinetist, Imri played in the Jerusalem Youth Orchestra and took part in a concert tour of Europe. On March 11, 1978, while the family was returning from a visit to the Galilee, their car came under fire near the Zichron Yaakov Junction. The attack was carried out by a terrorist group that had hijacked a bus. Imri was killed, and other members of his family were wounded. He was 14 years old. *** The information on this page is part of the 'Yizkor' commemoration project by the Ministry of Defense / the 'La'ad' website by the National Insurance Institute, in memory of the fallen.
