Enrique Martinez Rivera was one of the 17 Puerto Rican pilgrims killed by three members of the Japanese Red Army, recruited by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine at Lod Airport on May 30, 1972.
He was a high school teacher in Puerto Rico and travelled to Israel with his pregnant wife. He used his body as a shield to protect his pregnant wife from the bullets and grenade blasts and was hit by a grenade blast and killed instantly. The couple had 4 children.
