Daniel Zefaniah was born in 1928 in New York City to Bachur and Esther. He made aliyah in 1935 and after completing his schooling (as a welder) he joined the Jewish Brigade, even though he was underage.
Following his discharge he served in the Haganah and was killed in the battle for Neve Yaakov on May 16, 1948. He was buried in Neve Yaakov until December 17, 1949 when his body was moved to the Mt. Herzl Military Cemetery.
