Baruch Asher Tzvi Markus, son of Ita Rivka and Yitzchak Shlomo, was born in Jerusalem on October 17, 1983. After graduating from Himmelfarb High School, Asher chose to study at the religious pre-military academy in Atzmona.
On March 7, 2002, a group of Hamas terrorists infiltrated the southern part of Gush Katif. As they advanced they threw hand grenades and shot at the yeshiva, injuring 30 and killing 5 students. Asher was one of the five youths killed. He is survived by his parents and two brothers. Asher is buried in the Givat Shaul Cemetery.
