Ari Pearlmutter was born on August 4, 1974 in Ir Ovot, near Dimona, to Rachel and Simcha. He went to elementary school in Ir Ovot and then at the high school in Mercaz Sapir. He was an outstanding sportsman.
In November 1992 he was drafted into the IDF and at the end of his basic training he was assigned to an engineering unit of the Paratroopers. He served for a long period, together with his unit, in the security zone in Southern Lebanon and then in the West Bank.
On April 13, 1994 he was killed in a Hadera suicide bombing of a civilian bus while on his way to the memorial service for a comrade.
